Infrastructure
Classrooms
The campus is a sprawling complex of 3 acres with spacious classrooms that are well ventilated and furnished. Blackboards and walls are not sufficient for today’s students as their world is racing ahead in terms of new technologies and innovations everyday. In order to ensure that our infrastructure meets their needs, the classrooms are installed with all kinds of teaching aids ranging from LCD projector to computer based teaching packages.
Our school focuses heavily on experiential learning. We train our students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers and responsible citizens who will be able to meet the ever growing challenges of the global society.
Smart Class
We are piloting a scheme where all our classes are being equipped with electronic displays, white boards through which learning material can be presented in PPT’s and audio visual form.
Library
Our library is well stocked with a good range of texts from various publishers and boards (Samacheer, Matric, CBSE, ICSE). We also stock books of good authors from around the globe and leading magazines related to all core subjects.
We believe that the best kind of education is self-taught. In order to help our students equip themselves for competitive examinations (like AIIMS,NEET, Olympiad, etc…) the library is stocked with plenty of resources and magazines. Students from all classes are heartily encouraged to take advantage of our resources to gain more insight into their lessons.
We also have an extensive selection of books that would appeal to our younger readers (Kindergarten and primary) like the complete Amar Chitra Katha collection, Enid Blyton books, Sudha Murthy’s children books, etc… We subscribe to several children’s magazines like Tell me Why, Magic Pot, Kids Punnagai, Genius Punnagai, National Geographic Kids, Chutti Vikadan, Chellamae, Wisdom, Puthiya Thalaimurai Kalvi, Digit, Electronics for you, Open Source, IEEE Spectrum, Science Reporter, etc…
Finally, our library also houses a lot of teaching materials and resources to aid our teachers. We also subscribe magazines like Teachers + , The Progressive Teacher, etc…
Sports day
As a school that has always placed equal importance on sports as it does on academics, we have state of the art facilities to equip our sports men and women. We have a sprawling basketball court with a skating track wrapped around it. The school houses two high quality indoor synthetic courts for badminton and shuttlecock. We also have a 100 metres track for our athletes. Apart from all these, the campus also hosts three cricket pitches equipped with practise nets.
Additionally, our players are provided with the best coaches in the locality to ensure that they achieve their maximum potential.
Labs
Shikshalaya has different labs for all core subjects (Science & Maths). These labs are well equipped for students to develop their research & development skills.
Computer Lab
The lab is equipped with Windows and Linux server software to teach programming. Every computer is equipped with a digital camera and a bluetooth headphone. The lab also hosts an intranet which allows students to have their own blog where they can post articles about topics of their own interest.
Kids Zone
We have a well equipped kids zone to enhance and aid the motor skills of our tiny tots
Amphitheatre
If our students need a good place to hangout after school hours, there is no better spot than the sprawling amphitheatre. It can house 1500 people and is thus ideal for all our celebrations, festivals and events.
Hostel
Shikshalaya provides boarding facility for both boys and girls, separately, with spacious and comfortable dormitories. We serve a healthy and balanced food for our children. We strive to make the space as homely and cosy for our children as possible.
Bus Facility
To cater to the needs of the students, bus facility is provided covering all areas, in and around Dharmapuri.
